Vichada is an incomparable destination, which will allow you to connect with nature in an unusual way. Its traditions, music, climate and the warmth of its people will make your trip unforgettable.
The main symbol of the department of Vichada is the morichal, which represents the strong ties that unite the region with water. This, because the fibers that are raw material for the elaboration of different artisanal products such as basketry are obtained by from these moriche palms.
In the department of Vichada the work of the llanero stands out, which is recognized for its ability to gallop extensive plains and also stands out for its skills in fishing, hunting and its experience in navigating the rivers of the area.

Roasted fish is the typical dish of the region, cachama and piranha one of the favorite species in grilled or roasted preparations. This creation of dishes is given thanks to the water wealth and great skill in fishing.
These delicious preparations are accompanied by traditional foods of indigenous influence such as Mandoca, Mañoco and Fariña, made from flour from a species of Cassava known as yuca brava.

El Tuparro National Natural Park is a jewel of the natural ecosystem that extends over an area of approximately 548,000 hectares. It is a natural sanctuary of bushand rivers, where you can achieve great bird watching. Within the park stand out the imposing Raudales de Maipures, on the Río Orinoco, where you can also locate the old cemetery that belonged to the now disappeared indigenous group of the Maipures.
Whether in the plain, in the savannah, in the houses or in thecountryside, the llanero folklore is breathed in the department of Vichada. Su tradition is preserved from generation to generation thanks to its teachings and the conservation of celebrations and festivalssuch as El Cachicamo de Oro or the Reinado del Curito, where talented singer-songwriters and dancers of the joropo participate.
On the other hand, there is the coleus, the samples of cattle and horses, events that are of great affluence between locals and tourists.
In the department of Vichada, the expressions of the indigenous communities that inhabit the Orinoquía and the Amazon stand out. The most relevant events are: theIndigenous Cultural Festival, Festival de la Yuca Brava and the Reign of Cumare. In them there are several samples of handicrafts where you can appreciate the beauty of the local skill in basketry, which is made from the Palma de Cumare and the Palma de Moriche.
In addition, you can see pieces made of wood of emblematic animals for the regions such as: deer, armadillos, pink dolphins, chigüiros, alligators, turtles, amongothers.
