It is home to fascinating cultures such as the indigenous Wayúu, Kogi and Zenú or the raizales and palenqueras, and sacred archaeological sites such as Ciudad Perdida and the Macondian imaginary of Nóbel García Márquez.
The Greater Colombian Caribbean is a region of exuberant nature, where we find the highest peak in Colombia and the northernmost tip of the entire South American continent, Punta Gallinas. But, above all, it is the cradle of one of the most well-preserved colonial cities in the world-- Cartagena de Indias; a World Heritage Site and an authentic colonial jewel. It is also home to beautiful Heritage Villages, such as Mompox and Lorica. The rich cultural heritage of this region is evident in the colorful Carnival of Barranquilla and in the enormous diversity of rhythms and musical genres, such as the Vallenato, the Cumbia and the Porro that are heard and danced to in this region. A Caribbean full of contrasts, which goes much further than any other Caribbean.
